THE LAW OFFICE OF MICHAEL P. ERICSON

Mike Ericson is an experienced attorney with a record of representing clients involved in high stakes matters in both civil and criminal practice. Mike's civil practice has involved representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of areas. In part of his civil practice, he's litigated toxic tort and product liability wrongful death cases with financial exposure into the nine-figures. Mike's criminal practice has focused solely on defending people against government allegations, having achieved not guilty verdicts, dismissals by both the government and the court over the government's objection, and very favorable sentencing outcomes. In part of his criminal practice, he's represented people facing charges that can send them to prison for decades. Mike also understands, however, that any legal matter can be important to the client who has to deal with it.

Mike has been granted law licenses and practiced extensively in multiple jurisdictions, providing him with a variety of experiences and strategies that are not limited to only one jurisdiction. He's managed a statewide trial practice with multiple office locations. He's also worked in a major national market on high-profile, precedent-setting matters. However, the time away made Mike really miss and appreciate his home state of Iowa's people, culture, and ways of doing business.

Mike earned his B.A. from the University of Richmond, where he was also awarded a full-tuition scholarship. He holds an M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was selected as a graduate teaching assistant for a law-related class for two years. Mike earned his J.D., With Honors, from Drake University Law School, which he attended on a full-tuition offer. At Drake, Mike also served as a faculty Research Assistant and was named a finalist in a student oral argument competition. He earned his law degree in May of 2004, and was then admitted to the Iowa Bar and licensed to practice in September of that same year.
